Users are false reports about alleged defective batteries. Initial investigations have identified a link with the BIOS. Microsoft is working with PC manufacturers on a solution.

Microsoft has confirmed a bug resulting in Windows 7 to incorrect references to alleged battery problems. Initial investigations revealed that there may be a connection with the BIOS.

The error in question uses the basic input to determine output system (BIOS) of computer, whether a battery needs replacing. For yet unexplained reasons, the data provided by the BIOS be misinterpreted, leading to the warnings.
Since the message was introduced with Windows 7, Microsoft advises users who have switched from Vista to the new operating system to ignore the message automatically. Affected customers should contact the manufacturer of your device in order to find out whether the warning is justified or not.

The Microsoft forum with users complaining for some time about problems with laptop batteries. “I had excellent battery life, until I installed the RTM of Windows 7,” wrote the Microsoft MVP Brian Ehlert in September 2009 in a thread in the Microsoft forum. Windows 7 beta and RC versions, the term amounted to almost three hours, with the RTM only 20 minutes. “I now buy a new battery, because the present does not load, it was said of him in an entry written in January 2010.

Microsoft will work with PC makers for the reason of the failure. “We work with our partners to determine the cause, and will be more information and instructions, when available, published in the Forum.”

At the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in early January we were already laying hands on the new netbooks from Asus with a rotating touch screen. Was officially launched but so far only the 9-inch model with “old” equipment, it seems now is the time for his successor.

The first branch is still based on the Atom N270 and its associated facilities team. With the Asus Eee PC model T101MT the manufacturer is now using the new “Pine Trail” platform around the Atom N450. The hard drive holds 160 GB with Windows 7 starter or 320 GB with Windows 7 Home Premium. At the same time distinguish the variation in the built-up memory – 1 or 2 GB of DDR2.

The connections and other facilities points correspond with VGA, USB, Audio, LAN, WLAN, Bluetooth and a card reader to the current standard. The built-battery with 35 Wh to allow operation of 6.5 hours. An official price from Asus does not exist, first reports speak of about 500. For the upcoming launch, probably after the beginning of March at CeBIT, the Asus Eee PC T101MT has updated the website and published a video that shows some of the possibilities:
