    Windows 7: Microsoft is investigating battery problems

    Users are false reports about alleged defective batteries. Initial investigations have identified a link with the BIOS. Microsoft is working with PC manufacturers on a solution.

    Microsoft has confirmed a bug resulting in Windows 7 to incorrect references to alleged battery problems. Initial investigations revealed that there may be a connection with the BIOS.

    The error in question uses the basic input to determine output system (BIOS) of computer, whether a battery needs replacing. For yet unexplained reasons, the data provided by the BIOS be misinterpreted, leading to the warnings.
    Since the message was introduced with Windows 7, Microsoft advises users who have switched from Vista to the new operating system to ignore the message automatically. Affected customers should contact the manufacturer of your device in order to find out whether the warning is justified or not.
